Dey Patents Company
Syracuse, NY USA
This Dey Patents Company manufactured "Dey Register"
was made in Syracuse, NY in approximately 1898. This clock is a one day
150 employee model that was used in a large factory in addition to at least
one other "Dey Register" based upon the first number on the dial

Select the items below to view a detailed picture
- Brass Tag - This tag which
was attached to all clocks shows a serial number of 1490 and a patent date
of September 24, 1889.
- "The Dey Register" etched
glass window - I have placed a white piece of paper behind the
glass to help view the etching.
- Dial - This clock is missing
the original bezel, and I am looking for a replacement. Since Seth Thomas
supplied a standard dial to Dey, I think a replacement bezel may be easy
to find. The dial is 5 3/16" in diameter, and there is logo below
the center post which is a "ST" surrounded by a diamond within
a circle. The appropriate bezel would have an inside diameter of 6"
and an inside circumference on 19". Please send me an e-mail
if you have a suitable replacement.
- Wheel - Note the alternating
red points to help identify the appropriate employee number.
- Time Movement - A signed
Seth Thomas No. 86 15 day movement. The number "40" also stamped
on the front plate which is the number of teeth in the escape wheel. Thus,
this is an 80 beat movement.
- Drum "Worm" Drive
- This "worm" drive moves the drum back and forth when the
small arm is used to select the type of recording such as "Morning
In", "Noon Out" etc...
- Dey Bros. Tip Tray -
This tip tray shows a picture of the Dey Bros. dry goods store in Syracuse,
NY. The Dey Patents Co. first manufactured their clocks on the sixth floor
of this building.
